Lava and Oval Olivine Earrings
This design is made up of lava beads, oval faceted olivine beads, sterling silver donut-shaped beads and a sterling silver earring hook.
Olivine gains its name from its olive green colour. This volcanic mineral crystallises during the cooling of magma.
It has become iconic to Lanzarote, with both the island and the stone sharing the same volcanic origin.
Olivine crystals have also been found in extraterrestrial locations including Mars, the Moon, and some meteorites.
Its gemstone form is called peridot.
It is known as the stone of prosperity and happiness, and is the birthstone for August, as well as a Heart Chakra and Solar Plexus stone.
Peridot is associated with the Sun and has been prized since ancient times due to the belief that it possesses protective powers which serve to drive away negative energies. Peridot is also believed to have various other positive properties.
The earrings are 2-3cm/1in long excluding the hook part (olivine sizes may vary).
